Did you know that April is Celebrate Diversity Month?
What better time to shine a light on diversity in the workplace and all the positive impacts it has?
Today’s workforce is increasingly becoming more diverse – in fact, 47% of the country’s workforce are women and 37% are minorities. As diversity in the workplace grows, executives are noting several positive effects to their organization’s ROIs, overall employee satisfaction and levels of creativity.
According to a recent Forbes article, “data shows that organizations that are more diverse not only make more money, but are more innovative, smarter, and retain more of their staff.”
In fact, research finds that businesses generally see a 35% increase in ROI with ethnically diverse workforces, and a 15% increase with gender-diverse workforces.
In addition to higher financial returns, a 2015 study from Bersin by Deloitte found that “diverse companies had 2.3 times higher cash flow per employee over a three-year period than non-diverse companies did.”
Moreover, these more diverse companies are “better able to win top talent and increase employee satisfaction.”
Cox Enterprises is one such company. Forbes recently ranked Cox in the top 50 of America’s Best Employers for Diversity, after surveying over 30,000 U.S. employees, with questions addressing age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disability and diversity overall.
Following in Cox’s inspiring footsteps, Ideabar (a marketing and media agency by Cox Media Group) values its diverse workforce. In fact, 62% of the Ideabar leadership roles are held by women, including the Managing Director, Director of Client Services, Creative Director and Director of Insights + Operations. Additionally, 30% of the Ideabar team are minorities, most of whom are bilingual.
