In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, the United Way of Palm Beach County did what it always does in times of crisis: sprang into action.
While hundreds of thousands of impoverished Palm Beach County residents were struggling without power, UWPBC partnered with CityPlace’s developer, Related Companies, to transform the downtown space into a staging area for an emergency donation drive. Over a three-day span, the drive collected myriad essentials – everything from diapers, toilet paper and cleaning supplies to
non-perishable food, water and boxed milk.
The initiative was in keeping with UWPBC’s stated core mission – one it practices 365 days a year, crisis or not: “To improve measurably the lives of individuals and families in Palm Beach County by uniting the resources of donors, volunteers, agencies and the community.”
To increase donations and general awareness about UWPBC’s countless programs, Alexia Savage, Senior Vice President of Communication & Resource Development, made the organization’s digital presence a top priority.
She enlisted Ideabar to do the research and create an effective, multi-platform campaign.
The result? “We have seen increased social media engagement, traffic to our website and online donations,” reported Savage. One more mission accomplished.
